Celebrate Mother’s Day 2025 in Southampton

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, it’s time to get planning ways to treat your mum, or special female role model.

This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 30 March. Let us inspire you with some gorgeous ways to pamper, spoil and entertain your mum across Mother’s Day weekend.

Mother’s Day foodie treats

Slug

Whether it’s brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or a spot of cocktails, there’s plenty of choice in Southampton this Mother’s Day.

The Slug & Lettuce will be serving up a Mamma-Mia style brunch on the Saturday and on Mother’s Day itself, sip, celebrate and spoil mum with an afternoon tea. Plus, to make it even more special, mum will be treated to a free Chambord Royal.

The Grand will once again be offering afternoon teas on the Saturday and on Mother’s Day itself, their Sunday roast will take centre stage at this magnificent setting.

La Tavernetta

This Mother's Day, treat Mum to a special meal at The Dell – perfect for any Saints-supporting Mammas! From 22nd-30th March, Mum's main meal is free when you book a table for two or more.

Many of our other restaurants will be running special menus for Mother’s Day, take a look at the various places to eat and drink in Southampton and make your reservations.

A spot of shopping

If mum loves a shopping trip, then be sure to take her out to Southampton city centre to shop to her heart’s content. Choose from the big name brands and pop-ups in Westquay, or head to East Street and the Marlands for some of our city’s indies.

If you are looking to get a gift for mum then check out some of the classic stores in Westquay including Hotel Chocolat, John Lewis, M&S and beautiful jewellery at Ernest Jones. If you prefer your indies then head to the Marlands Shopping Centre or head out to Portswood for October Books, Southampton’s only independent bookshop.

Explore Tudor House and Garden on a guided tour

Just a short stroll from West Quay, in our historic Old Town, you will find Tudor House & Garden. Book onto a guided tour on Mother’s Day (pre-booking required) and learn more about the house’s fascinating history, including its connections to royalty. What’s more? Anybody booked onto the tour will receive an annual pass, meaning you can return together in the future too.

Challenge mum with some fun days out and experiences

High Score Arcade

If you and mum love to create memories together then why not book a session at High Score Arcade on Mother’s Day? Challenge mum to a variety of old school arcade games and compete against each other on the air hockey tables. Choose from a 60- or 90-minute session with pre-booking strongly advised.

Or, why not see if you can solve the clues and riddles required to navigate your way out of one of Southampton’s escape rooms? Great for family groups, take on the challenge of Locked in a Room (near Westquay) or Elusion Escape Rooms (with locations on Commercial Road and on the High Street).

Mother’s Day Vouchers

Perhaps you’d like to give a gift that can be used at a later date? Look out for vouchers at some of Southampton’s spas. Spa vouchers are available at the HarSpa (at the Southampton Harbour Hotel) and at the efora Spa at the Hilton Utilita Bowl.

You’ll find vouchers available at many of our high street stores, plus vouchers for the Mayflower Theatre and Mayflower Studios – perfect for any mum who loves musicals or comedy shows.

We hope we’ve given you lots of ideas for how you can treat the special lady in your life here in Southampton. Whether it’s for your mum, stepmum or someone else significant to you, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day!
