Eating out with children can sometimes strike fear in the heart of parents but it needn’t be stressful especially when we have a whole host of fabulous restaurants in Southampton that are ideal for children too. Here are five that are perfect:
Bill’s Southampton
Bill’s is somewhere so many love thanks to its beautiful decor, friendly staff and great British menu. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, there is always something perfect for children. There’s a kids breakfast menu as well as an all day menu available. Choose from their own little Bill’s breakfast or something a little sweeter with the Bill’s breakfast stack served with berries and bananas. For dinner, it costs just £5.95 for two courses and you can choose from hamburgers, sausages or fish fingers followed by a little treat for dessert. All menu details, as well as allergens, can be found on their website or ask a member of staff.
Byron
Byron is one of our favourite places to go with our son as they have a menu dedicated to children and dinosaurs! The Mini Byron menu comes in at £6.50 and includes a main, side and drink. All meals are also served with cucumber and carrot sticks. There are six mains to choose from including four burgers, nuggets and mac & Cheese with fries, sweet potato fries, courgette fries or coleslaw as your side choices. Children also get a colouring-in sheet with pencils too.
Gusto Lounge
Situated by Mayflower Theatre, it’s the ideal place for a pre-show meal especially if you’re heading to panto this year. The children’s menu is a little pricier than most at £7.95 which includes a main, dessert and drink. The menu includes pasta and pizza, the recipe for the perfect children’s meal with the penne and tomato pasta being especially yummy.
Wahaca
One of our favourite places to go with our son is Wahaca because the kids choice is brilliant. We always go for the Build your own Tacos which consists of tortillas, lettuce, cheese, mashed up guacamole, veggie sticks and chips then you can just add on grilled chicken, steak or cod for £5.75. It’s a great way for children to get used to their food and build their own to what they like while the parents tuck in to pork pibil tacos!
The Stable
If pizza is your vice then The Stable is perfect for you especially with children as it has such a relaxed vibe. It’s one of our favourite places to go for lunch as a family. For the children’s menu, you can either choose a pizza from £4.50 or go all in with a pizza, salad bites, drink and dessert for £9.50. We tend to just order a children’s pizza for our son as it’s usuallymore than enough for him. They’re all baked fresh while you wait and the flavours are always incredible. Children get their mini pizza on their own board just like the adults too which we love!
There are many great places to eat in Southampton with children and this is just a starter guide, I’m hoping to share even more real soon! Just remember, parts may be stressful but if there’s one bit of advice I could give, it’s eat out with your children. It’s such a brilliant experience for all and they get to experiment with food they may not have at home.
Happy eating!
