We’ve shared our blogs on the Old Town, Cultural Quarter, City Centre and Westquay. For this blog, we are looking at some of the fantastic late-night businesses you can find around the Bedford Place area of our city. Take some inspiration from the details below and plan your next big night out.
Fancy trying some Japanese cuisine? The Sakura is the place to go. Specialising in sashimi and sushi although this is just a part of what Sakura offers. Plus, the restaurant is open 7 nights a week.
And for the most delicious rotisserie and piri piri chicken in the city, Diegos is at the top of our list.
Just love your pie and mash? Then put Piecarumba on your agenda! This quirky pie shop offers indoor dining and pies to takeaway. Vegan and vegetarian pies are also on offer, as well as variety of beers, ciders and wines to accompany your pie.
If you fancy spicing it up a bit then, head over to Mexigo for a range of Mexican delights including fajitas, chilli and burritos. Takeaway food is also available.
And for burgers and loaded fries, 7bone is going to become your new favourite!
Love a good pint or two? We’ve got lots of pubs to try out in and around Bedford Place.
For a relaxed atmosphere, pop along to The Lion, a friendly pub with a cosy bar. Look out for events nights such as Thursday night live music.
Catch the NFL games and other live sports at The Bedford. Not only do they serve craft beers but cocktails, bottomless brunches and a daily food menu.
For more craft beers then Boards and Beards Craft Beer Bar is the place to go! Pop in for a session and enjoy the punk rock music played. Open Tuesday-Saturday until 10pm and Sunday until 8pm.
A traditional pub awaits you at the Cricketers Arms, here you’ll find a cosy atmosphere, real ales and home cooked food including steaks, burgers and traditional Sunday roasts. And if you are looking for something lively then head along to Shenanigans, a live music and Irish Sports Bar. You can expect live music on Friday and Saturday nights and sporting action screened on the 7 screens every day of the week.
And for the best of both worlds, Overdraft brings fresh new flavours with their delicious street food and craft beers. Their three for two taco Tuesdays are a must.
Last but by no means least, there’s the London Road Brewhouse with its own microbrewery and the Wetherspoon’s favourite, the Giddy Bridge, both open 7 days a week (London Road Brewhouse until midnight each night except Sundays and the Giddy Bridge until 11.30pm).
If you fancy something a bit more dressed up than a traditional pub then you’ll love the various cocktail bars and clubs found in and around Bedford Place. With some fabulous décor and some super tasting drinks on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice here.
Feel like you’ve been whisked away by heading into the Mile High Southampton, an airline themed cocktail bar with real airline seats, its own business and first-class lounges and aviation-themed cocktails.
Keep those travel vibes going by combining your evening with a trip to Tokyo, Southampton’s Japanese-themed lounge bar with R&B bar and beer garden.
Revolution is a lively and stylish venue for dining, drinking and dancing. With a late license until 2am (3am on Fridays and Saturdays), you can make a real night of it here. Likewise, Smugglers offers a bar and restaurant with cocktails a specialty.
With Insta-worth interiors, Funky Flamingo is a garden-themed lounge bar which also has a rooftop garden that’s perfect for those cocktails at sunset. Look out for themed nights and bottomless brunches every Saturday and Sunday.
Feel those retro vibes at Orange Rooms, where, you guessed it, most of the interior is orange! This quirky space offers one of the most dynamic drinks menus in Southampton.
Fever & Vibe is another lounge bar that you can find here. The venue is divided up into Fever – for your contemporary music and pop classics and Vibe – where urban and R&B music is the theme.
Love your cheesy pop music? Then Popworld is a must for you! This club plays the best of pop music from across the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
Or for a smart cocktail bar with tortillas and sharing plates, not forgetting a roof terrace and weekend club nights, there’s Buddha Lounge.
Other places worth being aware of too are The Social, on Lower Bannister Street is a popular live music venue with DJ sets on the weekends, Trilogy and Brave.
