If you are looking to connect with loved ones or browse the internet on your phone, there are plenty of places in the city centre that offer free WiFi. The Nest Coffee House, Costa, Cafe Thrive and Starbucks are just a few of the cafés that have WiFi – the perfect way to sit back and relax for a few hours over coffee.

Westquay Shopping Centre also offer free WiFi through the cloud, as well as the public library and Southampton City Art Gallery.

Plus, many of the city's local pubs and restaurants offer complimentary WiFi for their diners such as Coishi on Above Bar Street. They not only offer a great selection of sushi and bento boxes in addition but also accept group bookings at an affordable price. And don't forget about the hotels - unwind in comfort at IBIS Hotel and enjoy free WiFi over a tasty meal in their restaurant or relax with a drink from the bar in their outdoor area.

The main shopping centres and high street are just a short stroll away from the ports. If you are looking for toys we recommend Rockbottom Toy Store and Build-A-Bear Workshop or if it's tech and gadgets you’re after, why not go to MenKind.

Southampton has all the major brands including Zara, Primark, John Lewis & Partners, IKEA, M&S, JD Sports and more.

We also have plenty of health & beauty stores like Boots and Superdrug for you to stock up on the essentials.

Entertainment and leisure

In Southampton, you’ll be spoilt for choice with things to do. Knock over some pins at Hollywood Bowl, practice your aim at Black Axe Throwing, or head out with a couple of crew mates and challenge yourselves to one of city’s many escape rooms such as Elusion Escapes or Locked in a Room.

There is also a great selection of pub sports around the city, so if you’re looking to chill over a couple of drinks, The Mayflower Village, The Grapes, and Sharkey’s are worth checking out. Plus, don’t miss Rocket Ronnies over on High Street for a quick game of pool. They have the only Chinese pool table on the South Coast!

After a long day's work, you’ll want to head off the ship to unwind. Get some much-needed R&R at one of Southampton’s hair salons or beauty boutiques. Treat yourself to a full body massage at Rachel Katie Cosmetics or get your hair done at Rush Hair and Beauty or Fabulous Hair.

Not only does Southampton have plenty of beauty bars and salons to choose from, but there are also several local spots to get your fitness on. Jog over to PureGym or The Gym Group to stretch your muscles and get in some cardio. Both gyms offer free wifi, are open 24 hours, and require no contract.

Kadampa Meditation Centre and UK Shaolin also offer a welcoming space for those looking to meditate.

From literary links such as Jane Austen to grand medieval walls, Southampton is a city full of heritage waiting to be discovered. To help you on your exploration of the city, visit our heritage page here for key points of interest.

Being a costal city, Southampton also has a rich maritime history. In fact, the Titanic set sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton Docks. The SeaCity Museum is where you'll discover the city's Titanic story which holds over 200 ship artefacts and detailed retellings of the events leading up to the ship's tragic end.

Southampton also has quite the art scene. Head to John Hansard Gallery and Southampton City Art Gallery to explore some of their exhibits or have a wander around the city to discover plenty of outdoor sculptures and public artworks.
