For Summer 2024, Wild in Art will be bringing yet another exciting public art trail of light houses along the streets of Southampton and Cowes on the Isle of Wight to raise money for Southampton Children's Hospital Trust.

The trail will take place between 13 July – 12 September 2024.

The lighthouses will then be displayed together for a Farewell event in September 2024 which will be a chance to see all lighthouses gathered in one place, a truly unique sight. The sculptures will then go into auction to raise vital funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.

Why a lighthouse?

Being a coastal city, the lighthouse has maritime relevance and historically provided safe passage for sailors.

In addition to the maritime theme, the symbolism of a lighthouse represents a beacon of hope, strength, and safety, and this is what we feel our hospitals provide for our patients.

The lighthouses are unique sculptures and are in the process of being designed by some of the UK's most talented artists, schools, and community groups. They will take you on a cultural tour of Southampton and Cowes, letting you discover and engage with our region like never before.

The lighthouses will form a family-friendly trail of discovery for both local people and visitors to enjoy and explore.

This outdoor trail will be open to everyone, and we hope that as many people as possible will explore all or parts of the full accessible trail.

Like real lighthouses, each of the lighthouse sculptures is unique through its design and sponsorship by a business or individual.

Discover 40 8 foot high lighthouses and 40 mini lighthouses on the #LightTheSouth art trail.
