This year’s Light The South Trail has now come to a close, connecting communities across Southampton and Cowes on the Isle of Wight, all while raising vital funds for Southampton Hospitals Charity. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported this year's trail.
Being a coastal city, the lighthouse has maritime relevance and historically provided safe passage for sailors.
In addition to the maritime theme, the symbolism of a lighthouse represents a beacon of hope, strength, and safety, and this is what we feel our hospitals provide for our patients.
The lighthouses are unique sculptures and have been designed by some of the UK's most talented artists, schools, and community groups, each sponsored by a business or individual.
This outdoor family-friendly trail will be open to everyone to explore and enjoy and is fully accessible.
Discover 40 eight foot high lighthouses and 40 mini lighthouses on the #LightTheSouth art trail.
At the end of the trail, all the lighthouses will be brought together for a Farewell event at this year's Southampton Boat Show, offering one final chance to see all the designs in one place. The lighthouses will then be auctioned off on Friday 20th September (6.30pm – 10.30pm), to help raise vital funds for Southampton Hospitals Charity. The money raised will go towards funding life-saving equipment and research to give patients the best care and experience possible.
