Steamship Shieldhall Cruise to the Isle of Wight and the Medina River

Join us on an exciting cruise when for the very first time Shieldhall will venture into the Medina River on the Isle of Wight! Passing its banks in the lower reaches we will see old warehouses and wharves, where in the past flying boats, hovercraft and steam ships were developed and built. We will pass close to Cowes and will also head east into the Solent where we will view Norris Castle and Osborne House.Cruise Approximate Timings11:00 – Depart Berth 110, Southampton Docks 12:30 – Arrival at the entrance of the Medina River (Non stop) 13:30 – Depart the exit of the Medina River (Non stop) 16:00 – Arrival Berth 110, Southampton DocksPlease note that our entrance into the Medina River will be dependent on the weather and granting of permission by the Harbour Master, with contingency arrangements in place.As part of your cruise, see Shieldhall’s impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; listen to an informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and the Solent; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.Courtesy parking is available close to the berth.
