His solid stage presence and slick timing led to him support Doc Brown and Katherine Ryan on tour. With several critically-acclaimed, sold-out, solo shows, Tom has appeared at the world’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury, Reading, Edinburgh, the New Zealand Comedy Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. An accomplished radio presenter, he's had his own radio shows on BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM, and TV appearances include The Rob Brydon Show (BBC Two), Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave) and Edinburgh and Beyond (Comedy Central).JULIAN DEANE Widely celebrated for his ingenious punchlines, Julian Deane is an award-winning British stand up comedian and writer. Within a few years of starting stand up comedy, he was named Best New Comedian by the Comedy Café in London and won the ITV Stand Up Hero and the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year competitions. Julian has performed on The Russell Howard Hour and supported Paul Chowdhry on his sold out tour. His witty writing skills have also been put to use, with writing credits including Jimmy Carr, Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks , Unspun with Matt Forde and Morgan Spurlock’s New Britannia. Julian and fellow comedian Carl Donnelly host the podcast Two Vegan Idiots.COLIN OWENS [COMPERE] Our compere and your host for Stand in The Basement, Colin Owens, is an award-winning stand-up comedian, who has worked with Jimmy Carr, the teams behind The Inbetweeners and Mighty Boosh. Described as ‘laconic and charming’, Colin talks about his failings, inadequacies, mistakes and general stupidity, all tinged with an air of paranoia and insecurity, but delivered with supreme confidence and sexual edginess!SHOW INFOWHEN: Stand Up in the Basement is a once-a-month comedy night, always on the last Tuesday of the month.TIMINGS: We aim to kick off the show at 8pm. There'll be an opening act, short break, two rising acts in the shorter middle section, another break, and we'll finish up with the headliner. The show typically finishes around 10.30pm. The bar downstairs will be open before and after the show, and the upstairs bar will be open during the intervals.VENUE: This event is now (not in the basement, but) upstairs at Heartbreakers Bar & Venue, located at 7-9 Hanover Buildings, Southampton, SO14 1JX.
