African Tales shines light on classical works that have been long neglected or forgotten, written by three Black composers from Africa and the Diaspora.Internationally acclaimed pianist and historian Samantha Ege is joined by the Boston-based Castle of Our Skins quartet to perform works for piano quintet and piano trio. The programme features powerful compositions by Undine Smith Moore and Bongani Ndodana Breen, which respond to the distressing history of apartheid. It closes with the Piano Quintet in G minor by Samuel Coleridge Taylor, an inspirational figure for many worldwide and the face of an increasingly multicultural Britain.Join these five musicians for an evening of boundary-defying spiritual storytelling that will leave you with a sense of fortitude and hope.
