Our Youth Theatre groups give young people the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and work with experienced theatre practitioners in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.Here at Mayflower Youth Theatre, we have multiple group offerings whether you’re interested in developing your acting, dancing, singing or general theatre and stagecraft skills. There is something here for everyone whether you want to make new friends, have fun or become a professional in the industry.Mayflower Junior Youth Theatre Academic years 3-6An introduction to the three disciplines of acting, singing and dance. This is an opportunity to explore theatre in a safe and fun environment whilst developing communication and teamwork skills. Discover more…Mayflower Drama Youth Theatre Academic years 7-9 and 10-13Key skills: Drama, theatre, and stagecraft with play opportunities. Explore theatre and drama whilst gaining valuable skills including confidence and problem solving. Mayflower Drama Youth Theatre is a place young people can make new friends, explore themselves and the world around them in a safe and encouraging environment.Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre Academic years 7-9 and 10-13Key skills: Acting, Singing and Dance with Musical Theatre opportunities. Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre is a place where you can express yourself in a fun, safe environment whilst developing performance skills through workshops, audition preparation and productions.(Please note: Due to our upcoming production in February, Mayflower Musical Youth Theatre will be merging those in years 10 – 13 into one group.)Youth Theatre members are given the opportunity to perform in Youth Theatre productions and at various events throughout the year. Recent productions include, ‘A Chorus Line‘, ‘Stop the Traffik‘, a newly commissioned ‘Destroy The Precious Things‘, National Theatre Connections: The Periodicals and performances at Mela Festival, and Youth Theatre Lates.Mayflower Youth Theatre is for all young people, and we offer a bursary scheme to enable everyone to take part. Our bursaries cover half the cost of the standard fee, and support those who would otherwise be unable to attend.
