Emma Bayley presents Snakestone: A historical adventure based on the true story of Mary Anning’s childhoodJoin Emma Bayley, author of the children’s book Snakestone, as she explores the life of Mary Anning, the trailblazing fossil hunter who made her groundbreaking discovery of an ichthyosaur skull as a child alongside her brother Joseph.This interactive event will dive into the world of fossils, extinction events, dinosaurs, and the science of over 200 years ago as well as writing for historical fiction. With quizzes and a reading from Snakestone, this event is perfect for children aged 8 and up and their families. Personalized, signed copies of Snakestone will available to purchase at the end of the event.About the Author: Emma Bayley is passionate about bringing historical events and figures to life for a young readership, especially those relating to scientific discoveries. She spent many years working as a writer and editor for a science magazine, where it was her privilege to interview famous scientists, including David Attenborough. She lives in Sussex with her family and regularly visits Key Stage 2 classes in primary schools with her book Snakestone.About This Event: Please note that this event will take place in the Crawford Room which does not have step free access.
