Join Darren Naish, author and palaeontologist in the exploration of how we have come to understand the world of dinosaursWhat can we say about the behaviour and natural history of animals that died out over 66 million years ago?In this talk, Darren will discuss the evidence, and also the speculations and extrapolations, used in bringing dinosaurs back to life.Numerous fascinating and sometimes spectacular fossils give experts crucial insights into dinosaur behaviour. But perhaps more important is evidence from living animals, and specifically from those that surround dinosaurs in the family tree, birds in particular. Combined, this evidence shows that the world of dinosaurs was colourful and complex, and perhaps sometimes surprising and bizarre.About Darren:Darren Naish is an author and palaeozoologist who works on dinosaurs, ancient sea reptiles and the flying pterosaurs. He received his PhD in palaeontology from the University of Portsmouth in 2006. He has published numerous books, mostly recently Ancient Sea Reptiles (Natural History Museum, London/Smithsonian Books) and Dinopedia (published by Princeton University Press), and he blogs at Tetrapod Zoology (tetzoo.com) where he writes about all manner of zoological topics. He has also worked for the BBC Natural History Unit and is chief scientific consultant for the Apple TV+ series Prehistoric Planet.About this Event:This talk will be taking place in the Crawford Room which does not have step free access.
