This exhibition unfolds the journey of Hongkongers from night to morning through the eyes of exiled artists Lumli & Lumlong.Hongkongers have journeyed through night and dawn and walk towards morning.Night In 2019, they experienced a pro-democracy movement. Many were imprisoned, and freedoms suppressed. The painting “Thousand Hands Man” commemorates the movement.Dawn After 2019, around 150,000 Hongkongers migrated to the UK. “Long-Armed People” reflects on transnational repression. The diaspora strives to preserve culture and integrate—captured in “Hong Kong Foodie”.Morning “Rooting Everywhere” celebrates the next generation’s hope and unity.Welcome to FACES o’CLOCK, a haunting yet hopeful journey through the oil paintings of Lumli and Lumlong. These works are not just visual expressions — they are acts of courage, survival, and hope.City Life Church Southampton invites Lumli & Lumlong, a London-based Hong Kong artist couple, to bring you this art exhibition. Forced to flee Hong Kong in 2021 under political repression, the couple continues to use their grotesque style to expose the deeper realities of human experience. Their work has been exhibited internationally, including at the European and UK Parliaments, and was selected for the London Art Biennale 2025.This exhibition commemorates the 2019 Hong Kong Democracy Movement, and is a gathering opportunity for Hongkongers in the UK — a chance to remember, reflect, and rebuild. At the same time, it offers the British public and wider community a deeper understanding of the journey many Hongkongers have made, and why.
