It is recognised that as an event organiser there will be additional pressures on you during the Covid-19 pandemic in ensuring your event is safe for visitors and staff.
Extra measures are likely to be needed at your event to help reduce and prevent the spread of infection in line with the latest events and attractions guidance.
Limited funding is available which is designed to help support you in providing additional measures as identified in your risk assessment to create a safer environment.
This funding is available for outdoor public events taking place between 20 August 2021 and 31 March 2022.
Organisers of free outdoor public events scheduled to take place in the city between 20 August 2021 and 31 March 2022 are eligible to apply for funding.
Organisers of commercial outdoor public events scheduled to take place in the city between 20 August 2021 and 31 March 2022 are eligible to apply for funding but this will be limited to a maximum of 25 per cent* of the costs provided that they can demonstrate that:
Adding a Covid-19 safety supplement to the cost of admission would potentially make the event too expensive for a Southampton resident to attend.
The primary aim of the event is to promote health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, or to foster inclusion (for example, cultural diversity, child focused etc)
All eligible events need to take place before 31 March 2022 when this scheme will close.
The maximum sum to be claimed is capped at:
£5,000 for a single day event
(*commercial outdoor public event capped at £1,500)
£10,000 for multi-day events
(*commercial outdoor public event capped at £2,500)
Any funding must be spent solely on Covid-19 mitigation measures designed to help make your event safer by reducing and preventing the spread of infection.
It is expected that any funds received would help to provide support for event organiser’s to be able to follow the latest events and attractions guidance and whilst this list is not exhaustive, it may include a contribution towards:
Infrastructure (for example, fencing / barriers to help control ingress or ventilation)
Soaps and sanitizer
Staff training for infection prevention and control, cleaning
Additional staff for cleaning and extra stewarding
Communications to help with signage, banners, test and trace, pre and post event check-ins
Email your completed application to email@example.com along with a copy of your most recent COVID risk assessment highlighting the areas relevant to your application.
What happens next
You will receive an email within 14 days of submitting your application confirming if your funding application has been successful, the amount you have been provisionally awarded as a contribution towards control measures and information of how to claim your funding.
Please note that the fund is paid after the event has taken place upon the production of valid receipts and other evidence of expenditure. Therefore you must ensure you maintain accurate records of what you spend solely on COVID 19 mitigation measures at your event.
