Tour For All Southampton in the Second World War

Tours For All are designed to be suitable for people of all ages – adults and children alike. Your guide will tailor the walk for those joining it. Wear good footwear, be prepared to be amazed and get ready to dive into history! Unfortunately most of our walks are not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility concerns.Southampton was devastated by enemy bombing during the Second World War, but also played a crucial role in many aspects of the war. In this special walking tour, join historian and guide Andy Skinner for an exploration of Southampton’s Old Town with a specific focus on the story of Southampton during World War Two. You will spot areas above ground that were affected by bombing and descend into some of the medieval vaults that were used as air-raid shelters during the war. Please bring a torch for extra adventuring! Please meet 10 minutes before the tour start time in St Michael’s Square. This tour will happen twice, at 11am and 2pm and will last about 90 minutes. Please be aware that in adverse weather the tour may be cancelled or postponed at short notice.CANCELLATIONSIn the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund. Unfortunately tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact us if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend if you cannot attend for any reason.
