US Independence Day Cruise with the Soulcatchers, returning to Shieldhall after their ‘storming’ 2021 set! Listen to some favourite soul numbers and get close to the departing cruise ships Queen Victoria and Norwegian Star, always the chance to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’! Learn about Southampton’s links with our cousins across the water including the role Southampton played with The Mayflower and The Pilgrim Fathers; the Blue Riband Trophy and tales of Atlantic crossings, WWII and the GI brides. On this extended cruise we will pass down Southampton Water to the Solent, before heading west along the New Forest Coast passing Calshot, Lepe and Exbury, before sailing close to Hurst Castle.
As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks; relax in the Saloon with our wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; a range of Titanic bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, available on all trips.
