On **Wednesday 13th May 2020**, the Southampton Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies will host a first-of-its-kind, one-day conference at Avenue Campus to celebrate and explore the exciting research of UoS students across all levels of study.
The day will begin with an opening plenary by Dr Kim Simpson, a brief presentation by Clio OSullivan on the 2020 exhibition at Chawton House (*Man Up!*), followed by a series of student panels, each of three 10-minute mini-papers by students, and including time for questions and discussion. The day will end with a Q&A panel session on further study with current MA and PhD students.
The conference will be fairly informal, and is designed to provide a supportive atmosphere for those presenting, whether this is your first conference experience, or if you are trying out new or less polished material. You might adapt your dissertation work, expand on research for an essay, or try out a shorter version of a paper for an upcoming conference. Regardless of your motivation, it will be a thoroughly worthwhile experience and an opportunity to develop numerous skills going forward.
If you would like to present a 10-minute paper at the conference, please send a 100-word abstract to Alastair Dawson (A.E.Dawson@soton.ac.uk) by **Friday 24th April.**
You do not have to present a paper in order to attend, but please do register by the above deadline so that catering can be ordered in advance of the event.
