Dr Law will be talking about how social relations within professional footballers' lives have become increasingly monetarised.
In recent years one of the most commonly discussed issues in professional sport, and in particular Association Football, has been the pay of professional athletes. This talk will focus on the monetisation of social relations within the working lives of professional footballers, with a particular focus on image management and gambling, along with the impact this can have on the performance, health and wellbeing of the players.
Dr Graeme Law is former professional football player and coach, who now lectures in the sociology of sports coaching at York St John's University.
