18:30 - View all performance times

Physics & Astronomy B46 , University Of Southampton

The Nobel Lecture is a free annual lecture organised by Physoc and hosted by the University of Southampton, where the general public and members of the student body can come and learn about the recent Nobel Prize in Physics and why it is so important!

Prof. Pasquale Di Bari and Dr. Matt Middleton will be teaching you about this year’s Nobel Prize, which was awarded to Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz for their discovery of the first planet outside our solar system, and to James Peebles for his numerous contributions to theoretical discoveries in cosmology (like predicting the existence of the cosmic microwave background!). Both are fascinating discoveries that define the perspective of our place in the Universe, come and learn about them and why you should care!
