Joanne Tinley Jewellery , Fairways House Mount Pleasant Road
Ever since I made my first piece of jewellery using Keum Boo I have been fascinated by the possibilities of this technique, and by the fact that such a rich gold colour can be added to silver without breaking the bank! Keum Boo literally translates as ""attached gold"" and permanently bonds 24k gold to silver.
The workshop will teach you to produce two or three pieces of jewellery of your own using this beautiful technique. You will also be taught about the equipment required for carrying out Keum Boo work at home and will take information sheets away with you, together with any left over gold foil.
This tuition does not require any previous experience of silversmithing, but previous experience is useful if you wish to make a complicated piece. The workshop fee includes 4cm by 4cm of sterling silver sheet, suitable for creating at two or three pieces of jewellery depending on their size, plus a sheet of 24k gold worth £28. Any gold foil and silver sheet left at the end of the workshop is, of course, yours to take and use at home.
