What to expect at The Big Platinum Festival

When I say Corgis. Red cape. Crown. There is only one person that comes to mind. Our wonderful Queen Elizabeth II. Complete with sense of humour, legacy, and a variety of key and memorable moments.

It’s not like it’s a national secret, but, soon the Queen will be celebrating her 70th year on the throne as Queen of England. So how is Southampton celebrating? By throwing a party in her name of course!

The Big Platinum Festival will be held at Mayflower Park on Sunday 5th June 2022 from 10am to 9pm.

Read on to find out what to expect on the day. Don't forget to snap up your early bird tickets here.

The Big Platinum Band 01 1

A party isn’t a party without entertainment. But instead of keeping things to a typical family day out and putting on a band or two, we decided to go the distance and put on the most entertaining acts you can imagine. With local and regional talent - and just to name a few we have, 7 Decades of Dance, The Platinum Band, Cowboyy, Flowvers, Temples of Youth, Georgia Turnbull and more - including dancers, entertainment, and two different stages. To see the line up of entertainment across the three stages go here.

All locally sourced from the Hampshire area, to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, there’ll be food stalls and food trucks all with locally sourced food. If you’re a fan of street food, there’ll be Indian, Chinese, and an assortment of other delicacies from all over the world - including Great Britain of course.

There’ll also be a bar serving soft drinks and not so soft drinks. After all, it is a party.

Other Entertainment

There will be dedicated Kids Zones for the little ones to have fun and enjoy. Looking for something a little slower? Well, there’s a funfair, workshops for cricket, football - and for those who are looking to pursue their dream of being a clown? - there’s a funfair workshop, too!

For the more curious among you, there’ll be non-operational ambulances, fire engines, and police cars. And, for those who want to feel like James Bond for a few moments, there’ll even be an Aston Martin on display along with other popular cars.

You can check out what else The Big Platinum Festival has in store right here.

This family-friendly community festival is the perfect way to end the bank holiday weekend in Southampton. Early bird single tickets start at just £10 and family tickets (up to 4) for £20.
