With the government roadmap set to continue and outside spaces at pubs, restaurants and cafes being given the green light to re-open to customers from 12 April, we thought we’d explore some of the places you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining around the city.
We recommend checking opening times and dates with the restaurant/café prior to arriving and booking in advance (unless otherwise specified) is strongly advised to avoid disappointment.
With the Bedford Place/Carlton Road area road closure pilot scheme in place, you can enjoy more opportunities to eat outside. Sit down with some food or drink on the benches and take in the surroundings of the exciting new public art road painting project, colourful bollards and pretty planters as well as the extra lighting that's now in place. Within the pedestrianised area, find:
Smugglers Inn - To start with, they will be taking outdoor bookings only. This means that they will only be accepting bookings and tables in their garden, alongside additional seating on the newly pedestrianised Carlton Place.
The Black Phoenix Pub - outside area open on 12 April on a walk-in basis
The Cricketers Arms – tables in the rear patio and in front of the pub will be open from 12 April.
