When it comes to things to do with children in Southampton, Mayflower Theatre is great for a treat for all the family, especially as most of the children's productions are suitable for under twos so no one will be left out. There are four fab shows coming up so I’ve put together a quick rundown on what you can expect so you know what to book and when.
Tom Gates Live on Stage, 18-20th October - Suitable for under twos
Based on the best-selling books by Liz Pichon, Tom Gates Live on Stage is brought to life by the award winning producers of Horrible Histories and Gangsta Granny. The story follows Tom who is doing everything he can to stay out of trouble at school or he won’t be going on his school trip! The production welcomes Tom, his grumpy sister Delia and more to the stage in a beautifully entertaining and funny show with catchy tunes that will have you dancing in your seat.
Nativity the Musical, 3-7th December - Suitable for under twos
It’s not Christmas without a dose of Nativity and after two sell out seasons in London, Nativity flies into the Mayflower Theatre this December. The feel-good musical is full of fun, laughter and a couple of mishaps after Mr Maddens has promised a Hollywood producer is coming to see the school’s annual Nativity. The joyful musical is one you shouldn’t miss and will instantly sprinkle a little Christmas cheer over the most hardened of Scrooges.
Peter Pan, 14th Dec - 5th Jan - Suitable for under twos
A Christmas without panto is like Christmas without Christmas Pudding, it’s not right! The swashbuckling extravaganza that is Peter Pan arrives at the Mayflower Theatre this December for an adventure you won’t want to miss. Starring Marti Pellow, Darren Day, Jaymi Hensley and Grumbleweeds, Peter Pan will be full of flying effects, plenty of laughter and a few dad jokes. It’s the South Coast’s biggest pantomime and tickets are selling fast.
Night Before Christmas, 20th December- Suitable for under twos
On the night before Christmas, Emily stares out of the window and waits excitedly for the morning while a little mouse called Eddie can’t understand why only humans are allowed to get presents. Night Before Christmas tells the story of Eddie’s search to find out and the production follows his journey from family cat to the magical fairy and beyond. It’s a lovely story about the magic of Christmas and would make the perfect festive visit for all the family before a certain someone finds his way down the chimney.
All tickets for the Mayflower Theatre can be booked via the website www.mayflower.org.uk or by ringing the box office on 02380 711811.
