It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year which means soon there will be a sprinkling of Christmas cheer and the scent of cinnamon around every corner. There are a number of things that will help you get into the mood in Southampton so here are five things to put at the top of your list to do with your kiddies.
Taking place on three consecutive nights, the Bargate will be brought to life with the latest technologies and special projections. The stories will be based on Southampton's past present and future and will be told by a very festive Christmas Giant and Sir Bevois. This event will be at 6pm each night at the Bargate and is a perfect free interactive experience for families.
The traditional German market is back for its fifth year featuring beautiful alpine chalets selling bratwurst, waffles, gingerbread and so much more! The market also features over forty independent sellers offering handmade gifts, decorations, jewellery and clothing so you can pick up something a little different for friends or family this Christmas. The market also features two bars, daily entertainment and the perfect viewing point for Flying Santa. Flying Santa takes to the skies over Southampton every day where he flies with his reindeers. At the end of each show, Santa comes down from his sleigh and hands out presents to every child.
Monday - Saturday 5pm and 7pm and Sundays 4pm and 6pm.
From now until January, Skate is back on The Esplanade and will be open every day (except Christmas Day) during the festive season! The 900 square metre ice-rink is surrounded by Christmas trees, twinkling lights and is against the backdrop of the historic city walls. The Etsy Made Local Festive Market is in its third year in Southampton and is the perfect place to pick up a huge range of gifts from local business sellers. Visit Father Christmas this year at the beautiful Tudor House over the weekend of 7th and 8th of December. There will be workshops taking place across the weekend with a festive family trail, a Festive Wreath Workshop and a Christmas Peg Fairy workshop.
