Five Arts Events To Look Forward To This Year In Southampton

We’re certainly spoilt for choice for things to do in Southampton, with a range of arts venues and plenty of places to eat and drink beforehand. Here’s your guide to arts and entertainment in Southampton in 2020.

1.Tapping the tides: So: Write Poetry
God’s House Tower: 7th January - 4th February 2020

Since reopening last year, Gods House Tower has hosted a variety of inspiring and creative events within its walls. If you want to learn something new in 2020 this workshop is ideal. Poet and creative writing teacher, Kathryn Bevis will guide participants through how a poem is made and inspire them through contemporary and traditional poetry

2. Mamma Mia!

3.Rachel Parris: All Change Please

Fresh from ‘The Mash Report’ Rachel goes solo in her show about big life changes. She’ll be performing her stand up as well as a few songs on everything from relationships to going viral.

4. In search of a new world: Open Exhibition 2020
Southampton City Art Gallery: 18 Jul 2020 - 3 Oct 2020

Local artists have been invited to respond to the theme of ‘Journey, Migration and the Sea’ to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower sailing from Southampton to the New World. Be sure to get involved if you’re creative, or just go along and be inspired!
