For the fourth year running, the Festival Of Light returns to Westquay Esplanade offering an amazing variety of light installations, suitable for all ages – and the best part is, the event is free!
Travel through Pulse, a series of loops immersed with lights and sounds, or take the perfect selfie in front of the neon angel wings.
This event is one of the first activations that shines a light on Mayflower 400 and its communities which surround this milestone. Running from the 14th – 23rd of February 5-10pm.
Explore the iconic masks, puppets and costumes from Disney's The Lion King, up-close at a free pop-up exhibition this half-term (17th – 21st February), in celebration of the show’s return to Southampton this Autumn. Join bite-sized musical workshops on selected days, led by Disney Teaching Artists. No booking required for this free exhibition at Westquay, running between 11am - 5pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Why not take the family on a historical journey and visit God’s House Tower this half term? You can explore the stories behind the stones across four floors of the mighty building or why not get involved in an activity? Did you manage to catch The Tiger Who Came To Tea on TV at Christmas? If you had a roaring time, then catch the show on the big stage at the Nuffield Theatre (Campus) straight from the West End! Directed by David Wood, this adaption of the Children’s book written by Judith Kerr comes jam-packed with songs, magic and of course a big hungry tiger! The Mayflower Theatre is putting on two workshops over the half term suitable for children and families. Sign up for the Family Drama Workshop on the 21st of February and shake off the winter blues with drama games, storytelling and more. Suitable for children aged 18 months – 6 years and adults are encouraged to participate!
There is also a Two-Day Musical Theatre Workshop suitable for 7 to 11-year-olds. This Mamma Mia! inspired workshop explores music, movement and drama where children can work towards gaining their Arts Award. Running from 18th – 19th of February, book here.
Beat the boredom this half term and head to Engine Rooms for a roller-skating session! Whether you are a seasoned pro or just want to have a bit of fun next week this is a must to try.
